Student Council Elections

2025-2026 ACADEMIC YEAR

STUDENT COUNCIL PROGRAM/DEPARTMENT REPRESENTATIVE ELECTIONS

 

Student Council Program/Department Representative Elections will be held on November 5, 2025. Elections will be held for all associate and undergraduate programs/departments.

 

In the event that the absolute majority of voters cannot be reached in first round, second round of elections will be held on November 6, 2025. In the second round of elections, only students who did not vote in the first round cast their votes, and the results are added to the first round results to reach the final outcome.

 

The term of office of all candidates to be elected will end on the date of the announcement of the final results of the next ordinary Student Council Elections.

 

Students, who want to be candidates, must fill out the attached Candidate Application Form and KVKK Consent Form and submit them to dean’s/director’s office of the faculty/school/vocational school they are studying at with a wet signature along with Criminal Record between the dates of 6 -20 October, 2025 until 13.00.

ELECTION GUIDE

 

All associate and undergraduate students registered at Izmir University of Economics have the right to vote in the Student Council Election.

 

1. Any student who meets the following conditions can be a candidate for student representation:

1. being a student enrolled in at least the second year of the relevant faculty or school,**
2. not being a member or officer in political party organs,
3. not having a criminal record due to infamous crime,
4. not having received any disciplinary penalty,
5. not having deferred registration during the semester election is held,
6. having a GPA of  2.75 out of 4 and above,
7. not belonging to or being affiliated with terrorist organizations, or having contact with them,
8. not having completed the maximum education period or will not be completing it until the next ordinary election period,
9. not having the possibility of graduating at the end of the semester in which the selection will be held, considering the courses taken and the curriculum of the department,

*Special students and those studying at Izmir University of Economics within the scope of the exchange program cannot be candidates. Minor students cannot be candidates for student representation of the department in which they minor; double major students or students in more than one department/program can only be a candidate to represent one department/program.

 

**Students of vocational schools may apply while they are in their first or second year. For first-year students, the Grade Point Average (GPA) requirement does not apply.

 

2. The term of office of the representatives elected in the 2025-2026 Academic Year Student Council Elections ends on the date when the final results of the next ordinary Student Council Elections are announced.
3. The Election Board consists of the IUE Dean of Students or their representative, the Director of Health, Culture, and Sports or their representative, and one member of the Health, Culture, and Sports staff.
4. The list of programs/departments for which elections will be held is provided below.

5. Students, who want to be candidates, must fill out the attached Candidate Application Form and KVKK Consent Form and submit them to dean’s/director’s office of the faculty/school/vocational school they are studying at with a wet signature along with Criminal Record between the dates of 6 -20 October, 2025 until 13.00.

 

6. Candidate lists will be announced by the Election Board on 21 October 2025 at 13.00. Objections to candidate lists can be made until 21 October 2025 by 17.00. Final candidate lists will be announced on 22 October 2025 at 10.00.

 

7. Campaign Period starts on 22 October 2025 at 11.00 and ends on 4 November at 17.00.

 

8. During the Campaign Period, candidates can only promote themselves and cannot make propaganda for or against other candidates. Candidates' self-promotion should be realistic and relevant to the University. Care should be taken in the language used when making promotions. The candidacies of candidates who promote themselves with inappropriate content and format are canceled by the Election Board.

 

9. Elections will take place via the website https://ecohub.izmirekonomi.edu.tr/ , and users will log in to the system using their EkoID user information.

 

10. First Round of Elections will be held on 5 November 2025 at 09.00-16.00.

 

11. Each student has the right to participate in the voting only once. If the election goes to a second round, the votes cast in the first round are added to the votes of students, who did not vote, to reach the final result.

 

12. The counting of votes for the First Round of Election will be automatically taken from the system at 18.00 on the same day. If the absolute majority of the number of voters is not reached in a program/department, Second Round of Elections will be held on 6 November 2025 at 09.00-16.00.

 

13. The results of the First Round will be announced on 5 November 2025 at 18.00.

 

14. Second Round Election results will be announced by the Election Board on 7 November 2025 at 10.00. Election results can be objected to until 16.00 on 7 November 2025. The objection results will be finalized by the Election Board and the final election results will be announced on 7 November 2025 at 17.00.

 

15. In cases where the voting rate of the candidate with the highest number of valid votes is less than 10 percent of the number of voters, the department / program student representative will not be elected and the election of the department / program student representative is repeated with the same procedure. If the voting rate of the candidate with the highest number of valid votes is below 10 percent of the number of voters again, the department / program student representative position will remain empty until the next elections.
16.  In cases where the voting rate specified in the regulation is achieved, the candidate with the most valid votes is elected as the student representative of the department / program. If there is a tie in the election, a lot is drawn by the Election Board among the candidates with the most valid votes.
17. Election results (the names and last names of the candidates, the number of votes they received, and the number of votes cast and valid) are written and signed by the Election Board in the decision minutes.
